How to Feel Better About Yourself

When is the last time you looked in the mirror and liked the person you saw looking back at you? If you can’t answer today, then maybe it’s time for you to make some changes and learn to like the person looking back at you in the mirror.

What Kind of Person Do You Want to Be?

Do you want to be remembered as a nice person? or would you rather be remembered as a grumpy person? In our family we call this “Which one are you?” referring to the 7 Dwarfs. Which one do you want to be?

Be a Better Child to Your Parents

Let’s face it, your parents aren’t getting any younger and you are grown up and need to leave behind those petty arguments you’ve had over the years with your parents. So what if you were right, do you really need to prove that point? Grow up and get over it and accept your parents for who they are and love them as is. After all, they loved you through diapers and potty training and other such adventures.

Be a Better Parent to Your Own Children

Okay, so you know your children have it better than you did. That doesn’t mean you have to grump at them. Parenting with a good sense of humor is a must and remember, they’re only young once so make their memories good ones.

Stay Involved In Your Community

Statistics show that staying involved in your community will help you to forget about your own problems and issues and concentrate on being a better person. Find someplace to volunteer yourself today and start volunteering. You’ll come away with a whole new perspective on life.

Strive To Be a Better Person

Grab a notepad and make two columns. Now at the top of one write “like” and at the top of the other write “Dislike”. Now write each of your personal qualities in one column or the other. When you’re done re read your answers and vow to change the qualities you don’t like.

Improve Your Skills and Learn Some New Ones

Is there something that you’ve always wanted to learn how to do? Why not start today? In today’s fast paced society there’s always a way to learn something new. Whether it be a language, a game or even how to sew or embroider you can take a few minutes a day and learn it. For help in learning something turn to your online search engine and type in “beginning___________”.

Accept That Everyone Is Different

Even identical twins have differences. Sometimes in life we have to simply agree to disagree and go right on loving someone. Take a deep breath and ask yourself this question, “20 years from now will it really matter?” If the answer is no, move on and forget it.

Be Attentive and Listen

Have you ever watched the movie, “What the Deaf Man Heard”? If so then you know what I’m getting at here. Be attentive and listen to those around you. You’ll be surprised at what you can learn by simply listening for a few minutes instead of talking over everyone else.

If you are serious about making yourself a better person then take the above steps and start liking the new you today. Choose the ideas that work for you and smile at the person looking back at you in the mirror. Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
