How to Make a Jesus Plastic Canvas Magnet

2 different noticeable colors of yarn

1 sheet of 7 mesh clear plastic canvas

1 yarn needle

1 pair of scissors

2 small pieces of paper

2 small magnets

1 bottle of glue

Cut a piece of plastic canvas 59 square holes by 20.

Starting at the bottom count in 2 rows from the left right above on the 4th row of your plastic canvas. Sew 8 stitches using the same stitch you have been using on the outside. You will want to do 3 rows of this, but on your 3rd row do 2 stitches up higher on the left side which would be the 4th row. On the top of the 3rd row towards the right do 3 stitches to create a row. Do this all the way till you mean the top of your main color,10 rows upward. You have just created the letter “J”.

Now skip 2 rows (squares). Stitch 8 rows across. Each letter will be 8 squares long by 3 squares wide and you will be going from top to bottom meeting your outside trim you started with. Create 3 of these rows going from left to right and right to left leaving the 2 empty squares between the “J” and the “E”. On the left keeping the 2 squares still empty, create 2 rows of 3 stitches. Then another series of 3 rows of 8 another 2 of 3 and then lastly 3 rows of 8. This is the letter “E” of your Jesus plastic canvas magnet.

Now skip another 2 squares and stitch 3 rows of 8 stitches left to right and back again, keeping the 2 squares still empty which you will want to keep empty. On the right on top of the stitches you just created create 2 rows of 3 stitches lining up the stitches on the right. Now do just as you did when you first started the “S” sew 3 rows of 8 stitches right to left, making it equal with the bottom stitches. Do another 2 rows of 3 stitches left to right, keeping the same 2 squares empty, and then another 3 rows of 8 stitches.
Skip another 2 squares and stitch 3 squares, skip 2, stitch 3. Next row, working in reverse do the same thing. Stitch 3, skip 2, stitch 3. Keep doing this till you meet your outside trim. In the center of your soon to be “U” fill in the 6 missing squares on the bottom, that will create 3 rows up from the bottom creating a solid 3 rows.

Skipping another 2 squares and stitch 3 rows of 8 stitches left to right and back again, keeping the 2 squares still empty which you will want to keep empty. This is the final letter “S” of your Jesus plastic canvas magnet.

Fill in the open holes with your second color, and do the edges.

Take the 2 small pieces of paper and glue those evenly on either side of the back of your plastic canvas. Now glue on the magnets onto those pieces of paper.

It’s as easy as that! You have finished your Jesus plastic canvas magnet.
