As the economy sinks slowly day by day, politics bring out, well, the worst in people. I read daily about tea party antics, accusations about what repulicans have done to the country, and what democrats haven’t done for the country.
I admit I can’t keep up. I try to stay informed and end up staying confused and more than a bit frustrated over politics. Why is it republicans versus democrats? Why are people so ready to point fingers over who has done what about this or that?
My philosophy has always been “You are either part of the problem or part of the solution”. It has helped me as a supervisor and it has helped me throughout my life. See a problem? Find a way to fix it! Easy, right?
Why can’t politicians do the same? The economy is bad? Fix it. Unemployment is high? Fix it. Recession has hurt the country? Fix it!
I hear a lot about the Bush administration damaging the country so much, the effects are still being felt. I don’t care! I hear about how Obama can’t balance the budget? I don’t care! One person, President or not, is not to blame for the state of the union. Nor is one political party to blame for the country’s economic woes.
When I vote, I vote for the best person for the job. I look at the issues, look at the candidates, and make a decision about who will do the best job. Democrat or Republican. Man or Women. I don’t care.
I do care about the hunger in America. I care about the homeless and I care about the unemployment rate. Most of all I care about politicians who are willing to stand up for their beliefs and their ideals. I care about finding solutions, not about blaming anyone. Blame does not fix it!
So I’m asking the politicians to step up to the plate, stop pointing fingers, and come together to find solutions. I’m asking the American public to hold the government officials to a higher standard. Stop all the arguing and the blame and fix things!
I know I am expecting a lot. Why not? Coming together during times of trouble, America has always proven to be resourceful and brilliant. It’s time to be brilliant once again.
