China Blue is a day out with a difference. Instead of spending money to look around at an expensive attraction, why not spend your time in a more creative way? At China Blue, you can shop, eat, make things and learn, and it’s all under one roof!
Homeware Store
For quirky and beautifully made home furnishings, there is nowhere like China Blue. When you look at it from the outside, it’s hard to believe just how many amazing things can be packed inside the building. It is deceptively large, and inside, you will find an array of treats to make your home look amazing. Decorative glasses and plates are among the more interesting things in the store as they come in many, many different designs. You will also see vases, cutlery and pillows as well as smaller gift items. Even young children will have a lot of fun looking around because everything is so bright and sparkly!
Ceramics Studio
This is where the fun really starts! Alongside the homeware store, there is a studio where you can create your own designs! There is a huge range of ready-made pottery to choose from, and this is especially useful if you have children. Some of the things ready to paint include fairy castles, gnomes and robots!
If you are feeling adventurous, you will even get the chance to try making your own pottery on a potter’s wheel! There are plenty of staff on hand to help and advise you on how it all works, and you might just learn a new craft! It’s important to note that the pottery isn’t always ready to take home the same day as your visit. You can collect the next day, or your creations can be posted to you if you can’t get back.
China Blue Café
No doubt you will be hungry after a hard day’s crafting! You don’t need to worry about finding a place to eat, because China Blue has that too! The café is surprisingly big, and in spite of how busy it is, it’s always very clean. The coffee is some of the best in the whole of Devon, and their food is great too. Pay particular attention to their selection of cakes – they are fantastic, and they always give you a very large slice!
Although it seems like there isn’t enough to hold your interest for a full day, you would be amazed at just how much time can be taken up as you look around everything China Blue has to offer. Entry is free, so you only pay for the ceramics, and any gifts you buy. All in all, it is well worth a visit!
