It started it all
Memories it brings

Many years ago
My soul fell sober
Cancer I now know
Six years would follow
Now it November
Life’s purpose hollow
Mind now embittered
A cancer relapse
A loss of focus
School attendance gaps
Teenager hocus
Eighteen years later
Mom lost to cancer
Fall season traitor
It as life’s lancer
Twenty five years on
I do not feel strong
Mom gone for a year
