What Are the Best Christmas Movies of All Time?

Every November, several new Christmas movies premier. Some are good and some are not so good. But what are the best Christmas movies of all time? Below is a list of the top 6 Christmas movies ever made.

Number 6: “A Christmas Story” (1983). A story about a young boy named Ralph. He wants nothing more than to get a bb gun for Christmas. Unfortunately for him, no one agrees with his Christmas wish. His parents, teachers and friends all think it is not a good idea.

Number 5: “National Lampoons Christmas Vacation” (1989). Clark Griswold, played by Chevy Chase has some time off during the Christmas holidays. He desperately wants to have the perfect Christmas vacation for his family. Unfortunately for poor and inept Clark, he has a series of misadventures. None of his disasters were bigger than the arrival of his cousin Eddy.

Number 4: “Miracle on 34th Street” (1947). Kris Kringle is put on trial during the Christmas season. A little girl, played by 8 year old Natalie Wood is the only one that believes that Kris is the actual Santa Claus.

Number 3: “White Christmas” (1954). Bing Crosby plays a soldier who returns from World War 2. He and his partner (Danny Kaye) become entertainers in the immediate aftermath of the war. They find out that their commanding officer is down on his luck with an investment in a ski lodge. Crosby and Kay develop a completed scheme in order to help their former general.

Number 2: “A Christmas Carol” (1951). This film was remade numerous times. Everyone knows the story about Ebeneezer Scrooge, a cheap grouch who hates the concept of Christmas. He is visited by three ghosts who teach him the true meaning of Christmas.

Number 1: “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946). Jimmy Stewart plays George Bailey, a down on his luck banker. Through an unfortunate accident, his bank is short some money and he wishes he was never born. He is visited by his guardian Angel, Clarence. In order for Clarence to earn his wings, he must teach Bailey the value of his life. Clarence takes Bailey through a few days and shows him how the town would be without Bailey ever having been born.

Each of these Christmas movies can be seen on television during the holiday season. Other great Christmas movies include “Fred Claus”, “Trading Places”, “Home Alone”, “Elf” and “The Grinch that Stole Christmas”. Enjoy them!
