They are effective, of course. But you should have also very VERY little body fat, especially in the abdominal area in order for the abs to be visible, so a good diet is essential. For the leg muscles…. I doubt that press ups and sit ups …

Do push-ups and sit-ups actually work?
Q: I want to build muscle for tumbling because it would obviously help. I want to build lots of leg muscle, stomach muscle, and all the muscles in the arms (pretty much triceps, biceps, deltoids). How can I build muscle really fast? Are pushups and situps effective? How many should I do a day?I don’t need to lose weight, i just want muscle.
A: They are effective, of course. But you should have also very VERY little body fat, especially in the abdominal area in order for the abs to be visible, so a good diet is essential. For the leg muscles…. I doubt that press ups and sit ups help. Do squats. For bid muscles you need to lift weights. Press ups do help to build muscle but once you have gotten used to the weight of your body you’re lifting, you’ll need to increase the weight in order to build more muscles. You’ll either have to do push ups with a rucksack with weights in it on your bag, or lift weights.
(APFT preparation question) –Are push-ups and sit-ups actually good excercise or are they just good?
Q: indicators of your level of fitness? Also what muscle groups do they build up?Thanks! Also, is it best to do the sus and pus b4 the 2 mile run, or after? (with respect to most effective way to train for the test i mean)–thanks!
A: BADGER is lying, you dont have to do that, I’m sure he wasnt even in the army. The PT test goes according to age, and passing is a score of 60 on each test P/U in 2 minutes S/U in 2 minutes and 2 mile run.A male who is 17-21 ( They expect you to do the most in this age group) 42 push ups, 53 sit ups and 15:54 minutes is passing for a 2 mile run.Badger what unit were you in?The PT test is a measurement of your strengths. Find a military PT improvement book it will tell you which exercises to do. Side straddle hops, flutter kicks, mountain crawlers etc. Good LuckNekkra under me is correct never shoot for passing do the best possible. High PT scores leads to promotion points, not to mention you will be a better stronger soldier. LOL battle @ Nekkra I have to list my accomplistments too, HOOAH!
I don’t get it, do sit ups actually tone?
Q: I’ve reviewed millions of questions related to removing your gut by sit ups. A lot say that it doesn’t help, and a lot say that it helps and tones. My doctors tells me to do sit ups and push ups every other day or so. And when I check back on the internet, people say that it just doesn’t work for them. I do crunches everyday. (well I used to.) I didn’t really see much results… But sit ups and push ups as sets I haven’t tried. What I’m trying to say here, is that I just want to get rid of this “belly,” I have. Any tips? (by the way, what do almonds do again…? they’re a great snack, aren’t they?)
A: If you have a belly, sit ups won’t make it disappear. You need cardio first to lose the fat over your abs, then do sit ups to tone the muscles when they can actually become visible.Almonds in excess have a lot of fat and probably won’t help losing your gut. Try to eat not too many, like a handful a day.
