When you drink more water does it make you sweat less?
Q: I heard that the water you take in levels off your body teperature and makes you sweat less, is this true?
A: This is a complex answer. You already know that sweating is your body’s way of cooling itself off. If you are working out you build your inner temp. If you maintain your level of resistance and increase your water intake your inner temp will lower. In return your body needs less sweat to cool itself off. However, your metabolism is working harder, so the excrement from the unused componets of the water need to be excreted, you may have to pee more often. Now, the longer you use your muscles (even though the weight may be the same) you are begining to exaust them. They become more tired and need more energy to work. They become hot and tired and start to burn the extra water you have intaken. Its a funny little cycle… leason being… work hard and drink lots of water… you will be fine.

Q: I noticed that I sweat a lot when I work out. A lot more than my friends who are either as fit or even less fit than me.Is there anything I can do? A lot of it is on my face and back.
A: unfortunately, your body’s way of pespiration is just like that and you can’t change it, unless you were to go for surgery to remove the sweat glands in areas where u sweat more, like your face and back. i don’t think fitness plays a part, probably if it does, to a very small extent. i have a friend who weighed 100 over kg and shed a total near 40kg off and his pespiration volume is same as before! as for myself, i exercise very irregularly (my exercise schedule is erratic, sometimes i exercise everyday in that month), so not considered fit, but i sweat very little. when i’m walking under very hot weather (i’m singaporean), and less than others when i work out. i used to thought i had some problems, until my doc told me it’s perfectly normal.

Q: Im going to school in Arizona over the summer, this being my first summer here, and it suckssss when you have to go to class dripping sweat. Are there any tips to sweat less? Help me out people!!!
A: Well, make sure you use an anti-prespriant, not just a deodorant. I suggest Degree. Also, use some body powder like Shower to Shower. Lastly, wear very light colored clothes made of cotton or silk, and as little as possible. Like a tank top and shorts with sandals. Also, keep yourself cool by drinking lots of cold water.
