Does muscle really weigh more than fat?
Q: Well does one pound of feathers weigh less than one pound of lead…NO!I think fat people need to stop making excuses about their poor lifestyle choices. One pound of muscle weighs the same as one pound of fat. Albeit that muscle has a higher density than fat.
A: I’m a huge advocate against the obesity lifestyle, but I’m sorry, your argument makes little to no sense.
How does muscle weigh more than fat?
Q: I dont think it does, cause 5lbs of fat weighs the exact same thing as 5lbs of muscle.. and my dad said when he was younger he weighed a lot less then he does now, and he was all muscle when he was younger…
A: Muscle is denser than fat. OBVIOUSLY 5 lbs of muscle is the exact same as 5 lbs of fat, just like 5 lbs of hay is the same as 5 lbs of bricks, but there is going to be more hay than bricks though, right? If you were to cut out a piece of muscle from your body that was 1 inch by 1 inch, and a piece of fat that was 1 inch by 1 inch, the muscle would be heavier, because it’s denser.
if muscle weighs more than fat then why would a fat person weigh more than a muscular person of the same body?
Q: I know athletes weigh a lot because they have a lot of muscle, eat a lot, e.t.c., but if there was a fat person who was the same height/body type as an athlete I am guessing the fat person would even weigh more than the athlete. In fact, sometimes fat people with an even smaller body type than athletes weigh more than the athletes. So if muscle weighs more than fat then why would a muscular person weigh less than a fat person of the same build? You might say it has to do with the amount of fat a person has, but unless someone had a whole lot of fat they would not necessarily weigh MORE than someone with a lot of muscle; they might just be the same weight or something. So why do fat people weigh more than muscular people?
A: i don’t think so; If you ever find a strapping person with exactly the same dimensions as an obese person, the strapping man will probably weigh more
