when you lift weights, (curls, bench, etc), do you ever feel a “jolt of electricity” tingling in your bicep?
Q: the jolt of electricity is the best way i can describe it. you can also say tingling sensation. it happens usually when doing weights involving bending your arm or moving it up and down. wanted to know if it was just me…
A: If you are talking about what I think you’re talking about, it is common, and is known as “the pump”. It’s a pleasant, warm sensation your muscles get when you have workout them out a lot.. Of course, it usually only comes with people who have been working out long enough that they don’t necessarily get “sore” anymore. That’s why I’d say you probably work out a lot.But yeah, that’s what I have read a lot about, and that is what a lot of body builders are addicted to.
how long into working out until you start increasing in weight, for like curls, bench, etc.?
Q: Im starting to think my form is off because i been doing 5 reps and 3 sets of 55lb on bicep curls but i am not increasing. and also how do you measure when you need to add more weight or should add more sets or reps or what ever. Like basically whats a good way to tell your ready to bump up the weight. My friend tells me to do 8-12 reps 3 sets, when u hit 12 increase weight. But i thought to increase strength u should go most weight you can low reps high sets.. HELP?
A: You need to shoot for the absolute limit you can do for ten reps. You can start seeing gains around 4 weeks. Arms need a 24 hr recovery period. Also, any bodybuilder that is successful will tell you diet is 70% of success. You’ve got to have enough protein + nutrients or you will hit a plateau quick.
