I’ve been sick with flu-like symptoms for 6 days now, and have not seen any improvement. What could this be?
Q: My symptoms are chills, high fever, lethargy, pretty bad body aches, headache, and a cough. I am an extremely healthy individual, and have never been sick for anywhere near this long. I am currently on day 2 of a 5 day course of Tamiflu.I was tested for regular flu type A & B and the test came out negative.Anyone who has a good idea of what this might be or has had similar experience, help me out.
A: I think this sounds like the flu, but if the test came back negative I don’t know what to tell you. If you don’t get better by the end of the five days or see any improvement, you should definitely go back to your doctor and have them test again. I hope you feel better soon and this goes away!
Can somebody please tell me what is going on!?
Q: Ok so on Saturday, two days ago, I woke up feeling just fine but by the end of the day I was running a 104.1 fever an exhibiting flu-like symptoms. So on Sunday I went to Carenow and tested negative for type A or B flu and was running a 102.8 at the time. Because of the shortage of tamiflu and my negative test, they wouldn’t perscribe me any, which is understandable. But then later that same day my temperature dropped to the 97.2-97.6 range, taken at various times. Now that I am awake and have been for about an hour, my temperature is steadily resting at 96.3! What causes this? Oh, and I usually tend to run in the lower mid 98’s so I know that I’m not just returning to normal.
A: Your thyroid gland.
What might i have????
Q: Ok for about a week or two i’ve been having like flu type symptoms but havent got the flu. I’ve been having this thing where i can feel the mucus of my nose go down my throat (i think its called post nasal drip) and been having shortness of breath.Last night i could sleep b/c of a HORRIBLE headache (almost a migriane) and my nose was stuffed up a little on one side. Today i started getting the same thing in my throat where i can feel the mucus go down my throat and a scratchy throat. i’ve also started to have a little fever too ( i think ) Do i have a sinus infection? or bronchitis? What do you guys think i might have from my symptoms??????Oh yea i have a doctors appointment tmmrw at 3 cuz i’m really feelin sick so i just wanna know what ya’ll think about it??
A: It could very well be a sinus infection, which could be causing the post nasal drip, the headache, the painful congestion, and fever. The scratchy throat could be caused by the post nasal drip. I’ve had it so bad before that I’ve lost my voice.Until you get to the doctor, some Benadryl could help with the postnasal issues. Some Sudaphed could help with the congestion & stuffiness, as well as some saline drops for your nose. Check with a pharmacist, who can give you a recommendation and tell you if any of the items interact with anything you are currently taking. Only a doctor can tell you if you have an infection and if it requires an antibiotic to clear up.Probably not bronchitis if you are not have severe chest congestion. Hope you feel better soon.
