Can VRE infection be transmitted from a person to a pet? Particularly a dog or cat?
Q:I know the the VRE is present in digestive systems of cats and dogs as well as humans what I need to know is if a person who has the active infection VRE can transmit it to a dog or a cat. Thanks

VRE is classified as a zoonotic agent (disease which can be transmittable between human and animal). Be sure to wash hands before touching the animal to minimize exposure.
