Q:Have any of you moms gotten type2 after having gestational? If so, how long after delivery?
More Answers to “Have any of you moms gotten type2 after having gestational? If so, how long after delivery?“I had Gestational Diabetes when pregnant with my first child. Five years later I became a diabetic. You should have your doctor check your levels every year. You want to catch it in time before any symptoms start that way you can learn to control it before it does any damage.
they say after having gestational diabetes you should be checked at every year female dr. apt. Or at the very least every 3 years. The chances are extremely great that they will become type 2 later down the road. I had gestational diabetes with my son (I was 21) at age 29 I was diagnosed with type 1 (this had nothing at all to do with the gest. diabetes, I’m just lucky!) At first my doctor thought it was type 2 because of that history, but when I became very ill we discovered it to be type 1. I also know a person who her dr. thought she had gestational diabetes, but she was getting sicker and sicker, and after delivery discovered hers to also be type 1. So in some cases condesince plays a role
I was told in the hospital that right after you give birth it either stays or goes so they monitor you while your there and if you still have it they set up a appointment to see a dietician right away.IT Sucks!I have such a sweet tooth, but at least you don’t have to do injections. Most folks just take pills.
