Speaking holistically, I have gained alot of benefit from using Zicam nasal swabs, found in most drug stores and groceries now.
You need something to thin your mucous. (Gag) Take the recommended dose of guiafenisin- Robitussin- or Musinex. It doesn’t make you tired and after a day or so of the normal dosage, your sinuses will feel less clogged. It’s not cheap, though. It used to be a prescription drug and now is OTC. I also recently tried Cranex- that’s a prescription drug so you’d have to see your doc. That is good stuff. If all else fails and you have an hour or so to nap, take some Sudafed. (Hmm, I just answered a similar question)OK, don’t use any kind of inhalers because those will make your problem worse. As I suggested to another poster, try over-the-counter Vicks DayQuil (I use it) as it won’t put you to sleep during the day. And drinking a cup of java after to wash down the gummy-ness will give you a nice buzz.Of course, if your sinusitis gets really bad, see your doctor.
Mold Spores can be a cause for chronic rhinitus or sinusitus. All the medication in the world will only help a little and it becomes a pain in the butt to keep using it all the time. Sometimes your nose can become dependent on it. Try to eliminate all sources of mold first and see if it clears up. If not look into other sources for allergy. Sinusitus could also be caused by other physical problems like deviated septum, or clogged sinus drainage tubes that come off the sinus. I would also try saline to help keep everything moist. Nasal sprays offer the most relief, but can cause other problems if used too long. See a doctor. Good luck!
Sandy, I struggle with sinusitis and the best thing for chronic sinusitis is Loratadine. It can be purchased at the drug store.
