Has he checked your TSH levels after you’ve been on your meds to check for effectiveness? I have never heard of Eltroxin, almost all hypothyroids are given either Synthroid or Levothroid.

TSH levels are very non specific by themselves, your doctor should also ck you Free T3 and Free T4 levels for complete analysis. If you are taking other medications also tell your doctor about it because they affect the absorption of Thyroid hormone. If the levels do come back normal and your are properly medicated, diet and exercise is the only way to lose weight. There are no particular food that you can or can not eat but if you are trying to loose weight the following advice though it is general it will be helpful.As far as Indian cooking goes it has a lot of oil and lot of carbohydrates. Cut out all Fried foods, no bhajia or hadiram at all.As far as the regular tarka goes try to roast your masala without oil, that’s what I do. If it’s mustard seeds I use 1/4 of a teaspoon of olive oil. Limit your roti intake or better yet stop eating roti for a month. Limit also you rice intake. Fill up on Dal’s that have the outer cover on e.g. green moong vs. yellow moong. The fiber in the bean is essential to keep you full for longer time. Also eat a lot of subji with no added oil. I fry my onion for the gravy in water, add extra garam masala and spice and chilly for taste. Take a walk everyday in the morning if you can, start out with 20mins and go up to an hour in two months.
