yeah, it may beneficial for you, smooth respiration is possible. But in sitting posture only!
No It wouldnt help you. T-TThat only helps if your choking on something
wouldn’t it make sense if someone slapped you on the lung instead?
Actually, it *could* help if done by a professional respiratory therapist. Its also known as chest percussion. Ask your doctor if mucinex isn’t helping… also, try cutting back on dairy products.
It is more complex than that, but there is a method of percussion. Please see a doctor. You may need an antibiotic or some other care. Check with your doctor. They will be able to help you further and instruct you how to get that out.PS please look into medical care so stupid parents are not getting their children vaccinated so after 10 years we are not immune from our vaccination. If immunocompromised, a baby or an elderly person we can die. A baby cannot get a vaccination so they are SOL and will die thanks to these parents. Other people can get vaccinations. If you do have whooping cough it can be fixed with broad spectrum antibiotics and you can thank those idiots who choose not to vaccinate their children so we either have to catch it or all get vaccinated and the babies get to die. Stupid parents. Also if you have pneumona you will want treatment. Even if you do need percussion you want a respiratory therapist to do it not some fool who will break a rib of yours.
I know, Iris, I never have it that bad either. My colds come in winter, they don’t last long, and I don’t sit around and let my nose get stuffy when I have ’em. Why would it bother anybody that they gotta wipe their nose & clear their throat? It just makes you sound a little nasally, so my solution is just talk gravely so you still sound tough. Who cares about a little frog in your throat?
yes it will work ,like a couple of other people have answered, but there is more to it than just slapping you on the back. there is proper technique this type of drainage,it is used in chronic respiratory patients like Cystic Fibrosis patients
rubbing the back to help someone cough out the phlegm isn’t actually loosening the phlegm. Its more like touch therapy, like sharing the feeling of that person in pain (because his throat is already burning from coughing and stuff). You can try guiafenesin, it increases the fluid portion of the phlegm making it easier for that person to cough it out. Water therapy works the same way if you want the oh so natural way of cleansing your body. Carbocistein and other respiratory drugs didn’t actually give significant findings based on clinical trials. Maybe thats why mucinex isn’t working.
Yes, but it is not slapping it is clapping. Using cupped hands to percuss the back. This is called Chest Physiotherapy or CPT. Cystic Fibrosis patients have this done to them on a daily basis. no!!! it would make it worse!!!
When I was a nurse (one million years ago) one of my dutys was to pat the babies on the back for 15-20 minutes at a time to loosen the phlegm. When my daughter got whooping cough that was the only thing that saved her life. Not slapping on the back but with your hand cupped in a scoop and patting as in a push pull motion. Warm steam help too.
YES IT DOES!!! ONLY YOU ARE SUPPOSSED TO GIVE LITTLE CHOPS OR FISTS. IT LOOSENS AND YOU NEED TO ALSO TAKE DEEP DEEP BREATHS…..THEY WILL ALSO ENCOURAGE A COUGH. BUT YES, QUICK KARATE CHOPS ACROSS THE BACKSIDE DOES INDEED HELP. IT IS WHAT RESPIRATORY THERAPISTS DO IN THE HOSPITALS . ALSO DO LOTS OF WALKING. LYING STILL ONLY WORSENS IT. EXCERCISE HELPS THE LUNGS FUNCTION. ITS WHY AFTER SURGERY THEY ALWAYS TELL U TO WALK…SO NOT TO DEVELOPE PNEUMONIA
First of all, I don’t know why you’d have a respiratory virus in August if you’re not a kid in daycare or something. Secondly, if you have that kind of phlegm with it you might want to see a doctor. The last time I had a cold was last March and for the thin, watery snot & phlegm I had I’d just sniff back or clear my throat cuz it doesn’t bother me much. And when I stand up, my nose clears at least halfway because only when I’m totally sedentary is it ever that stuffy. I just don’t get why people have phlegm in the summer.
eeehhhwa! YUK!Nurses pound on peoples backs with cupped hands to do that, they call it “percussing” or somthing like that so it should work for you too, but don’t ask me to watch you hock up a lung wad. Breath some hot steamy Vicks water under a towel like we did when we had the croup!
THIS IS A SERIOUS QUESTION AND YOU SHOULD ASK YOUR DOCTOR…DON’T WANT TO MAKE THINGS WORSE.MAYBE YOUR DOCTOR CAN CHANGE YOUR MEDS TO HELP BUT DON’T WAIT SEE YOUR DOCTOR SOON…GINGER TEA MADE FROM THE GINGER ROOT WITH A LITTLE HONEY HELPS ME….FEEL BETTER….BETTER THEN MEDS BUT THATS ME..GOOD LUCK..
