Q:peple who have it did not recieve it from abroad..yes it can happen by visiting less developed countries where they barely have the resourses to feed themselves but they are not the ONLY or MAIN reason..also 2 the person who says it is not painful..i can tell you it is.i have had it for 3 years and my hosp appnt in DEC will determine if it can still be cured as the drugs may not work anymore..17 yrs old

T.B is very much alive in the U.K there are high instances of it amongst the homeless population at it isn’t that hard to catch being an airborne virus
The higher number of people coming in and out of the uk from countries where vaccine is not available has brought the disease back into the general population here. The vaccine is not guaranteed to work, it does work on many people but not everyone, also as people usually didn’t recieve the vaccine until they were teenagers, children and teens are in a higher risk group of catching the disease. The NHS should have anticipated the problems with the vaccine earlier but they didn’t. I have heard that they improved the system in 2005, but i’m not exactly sure what they did to improve it.
as far as I know, TB is caused by bacteria and the TB in poor countries are different, more stronger and even so it is treatable by taking medicine for 2 years. The TB can appear on the lungs, kidneys, bones, anywhere.
TB started off in the Uk. In the early 60’s many people died here because of it due to poor sanitation in all the wet wheather and the big stink.This is not a disease only in less fortunate countries.
