My father has Guillen Barre. He’s been an invalid for 8 mo. and their insurance just ran out.?
Q:He’s on a breathing machine and intravenious feeding. Would it be feesible to hire a full time nurse that is maybe retired to live at my mother’s house and rent the medical equipment needed or any other suggestions.

Have you contacted your local hospice? Please do. They will get you help. Also contact your parents county department of social services. There is plenty of help out there that they have already paid for with years and years of tax dollars! Also contact the Guillain-Barre Syndrome Foundation:GBS/CIDP Foundation InternationalP.O. Box 262Wynnewood, PA [email protected]http://www.gbsfi.comTel: 610-667-0131Fax: 610-667-7036 http://ehealthforum.com/health/ptopic455.I found this on the web. They may have info about financial help. It appears to be sort of a blog.It sounds like it will eventually go away. Good luck to you and your dad.
Have you tried going to social security, Seems if your father is sick either social services or social security would be able to help with his medical needs . Hospice is a very good place they can send a nurse out to your house like they did with my mom..If he needs round the clock care then I would say yes it is feesible to hire a nurse.. Usually the nurse will know where you can get medical equipment for cheap or rented.. Good Luck..
This is a good idea because to pay out of pocket can be very expensive and add up. It may be cheaper to get a home health aide.
