Okay..depending on what part of the country you live in, this could be many different things. It could be a brown recluse spider bite causing necrosis, it could be the result of a tick bite in which the tick was infected with lyme disease, or it could be simply a scratch. No matter what it is, though, green/yellow drainage indicates infection and the body trying to fight something off. If it is a simple infection, you may be able to take care of it at home. Clean it often, put betadine on it, and keep it covered for a day or so. If it gets worse or you notice other symptoms such as fever, lethargy, chills or a rash, go to the doctor immediately. Don’t let bad opinions get you down. 🙂 Every parent has a time, ok, MANY times when they are unsure of what to do. Please don’t think you are a bad parent as some have suggested. If there is puss coming out of it, you should clean it with soap and water, try to gently rub away as much puss as you can, and then put an antibacterial cream on it. Tomorrow call your doctor and see if you can get it looked at. Some bugs, tics, crawl into the skin, and other bugs can leave quite a nasty little poison behind, not usually dangerous to the whole body, but can cause infection at the site of the bite. Don’t use peroxide on it. Doctors have recently been saying that peroxide will help kill the poison/infection, but it will also kill all the helpful cells at the sight, and can help ruin the skin, and rarely can aid in scaring. It’s much better to clean the cut, bite out with warm soap and water. But please do call your family doctor tomorrow just to make sure he doesn’t want to check her out. He will have heard of any dangerous insects around lately, and can tell you if she should be looked at. Good luck, and thank you for asking, that is what shows you are a caring parent. you shouldn’t have kids if you don’t know what to do. if you would go to the doctor, then you need to take your child asap. it could be a spider bite, or some other bite.
