what is a localized reaction from a tb test?

This means that there is redness, tenderness, and swelling around the area. If you had gthe skin TB test, then I believe that a localized reaction is a reaction on the area that is just around the site of the injection. I have had a TB test before, but didn’t have a reaction to it.

This indicates you have been exposed to the germ(bacteria) which causes tb. It DOES NOT mean you have the disease, however it is good to be checked further to be assured you don’t have the disease. I had a positive reaction and further testing showed that I had earlier had a primary case of tb which healed itself. I was put on medicine for a year-preventative measure so that as I aged I wouldn’t be as much at risk for infection-many people carry the germ, but it doesn’t get a hold on the body

if it’s a PPD then a raised area of more than 10mm will constitute a positive test unless you have HIV then 5mm. (Remember that it has to be raised, not just red. It’s kinda like a welt).
