What was it before the TB sanitorium in Carsbad Texas 1912?

I believe it was always a TB colony. But, I’ll look some more.

I found a link which says it was a land donated by the father of Clay Holliman for the Sanitorium located in Carlsbad to the State of Texas. The TB Sanitarium (The Anti-tuberculosis Colony #1) in Carlsbad, Texas was opened on July 4, 1912.Before the construction of the sanitarium, I believe it was nothing more than a forest, an enchanted forest perhaps. If it was used for another purpose, possibly could have been an unofficial graveyard.Clay Holliman owned most of the land between San Angelo andSterling City during that time.The sanitarium facility is presently the San Angelo State School.♥
