Why do your ears go funny when you have a cold?
Q:Please can someone explain why hearing goes funny and your ears feel like they’ve been filled with cold water when you have a cold? Also, why does it feel like I’ve got swimming pool water up my nose??

ears are a part of the body that absorbs a lot of cold, eventually because your ears are connected to the back of your throat thru the eustachian tubes.they get blocked when you have a cold!
As others have already said – your ears/nose/throat connect (which is why some doctors specialize in this area!) It’s why your throat gets all that gunk in it when you are sick too – your sinus drain back there.It is also why you can “pop” you ears when you hold your nose and blow. You are changing the pressure – because they connect.Some people have problems because their tubes are too small – it can make them prone to ear infections, even as adults.Hope you got all the info you wanted!

your ears nose and throat are all joined so when you get a cold thy get bunged up with mucus (or snot) give your nose a good blow you should feel better if the cold lasts for more than 7days go to your doctor
This happens because when you have a cold, your body has excess mucous. It fills up all your sinus cavities, and collects in your eustachian tubes (ears). When your ears are filled with fluid, it can make you feel off balance because it disrupts the balance mechanism in the ears, it can make it hard to hear, like you are listening under water (because you literally are) and when you speak, it sounds off as well. As you get better and the mucous production decreases and returns to normal, it takes awhile for the body to absorb all the extra fluid in your ears. When it finally absorbs enough so that the pressures from the outside world and your inner ear equalize you finally hear that “pop” and everything sounds “loud” again.Your nose is making this extra mucous, as well as your lungs sometimes, to help fight the virus which explains the problem with your nose.Hope this helps explain things.Sherril H., R.N.
because ur ears nose and throat are all connected so if ur nose and throat is sore then ur ears automatically get a problem also!
Because your ear, nose and throat are inter-connected. I would recommend a nasal spray which gives relief for up to 8 hours.
when you get cold your body takes the blood away from places where it will get the coldest. Fingers, toes, ears, nose.
