Burn Calories Easily to Help Lose Weight

There are millions of people out there that wish they could lose weight, so do not feel alone. Losing weight can be accomplished with a little hard work and effort. To lose weight you have to burn more calories than you consume; it’s as simple as that. But the good news is that every movement that we make, rather big or small, burns calories. So who said you have to go to the gym everyday to lose weight? It is easier and not as much hassle to just find ways to move more throughout your day. Here are a few ideas to get you moving!

Don’t be Lazy

Many times after coming home from a long day’s work, we just want to lay down on the couch and watch television all night. If you must choose a sedimentary activity, at least make sure you are burning as many calories as possible. Sit up while watching TV. Sitting up requires more calories than laying or slouching. If you feel the need for a (preferably healthy) snack or drink don’t ask someone to prepare it for you. It won’t be a favor at all for someone wishing to burn calories to lose weight. Get up and do it yourself.

Fidget

In 1986, Eric Ravussin conducted a study of 177 subjects. Individually, the subjects would stay in a chamber that measured how many calories they were burning. The results varied. Some burned as many as 3,600 calories and others as few as 1,300. It was concluded that the reason for the variations were how much each subject fidgeted. Some were restless and others remained sitting still. Those that kept moving burned the most calories. So, fidgeting can help you lose weight. Pace while you are talking on the phone, bounce your foot while you are sitting at your desk, tap your pen, use hand gestures while you talk. If you have a job that requires you to sit, stand up and stretch at least once an hour. All of these small movements add up quickly.

Make Things Harder on Yourself

This one is easier than it sounds. Instead of parking in the closest parking spot, park at the far end of the parking lot and take the extra steps. Use stairs instead of elevators or escalators. Wash the dishes by hand instead of using a dishwasher. Walk down the hall to give coworkers messages instead of emailing them. All these little things can add up to make a big difference.

Get a Dog

Dogs are the perfect workout partners and require exercise. They will love to go for long runs or walks with you which of course burns calories.

Have Fun

It is common sense that if you are having fun while burning calories, then the more motivated you will be to put effort into losing weight. Singing, dancing, playing games with friends, and talking to friends all burn calories. They say laughter is the best medicine, and it also burns calories. Researchers at Vanderbilt University found adults burn an average of 1.3 calories per minute while laughing with their friends. Stress can also hinder weight loss, and laughing helps relieve emotional stress as well.

There are millions of little things that you can do during your day that burns calories. Just try to be as active as possible, even if you can’t hit the gym every day. This with a healthy diet will have you dropping pounds like crazy!
