With 2011 coming to an end, it is time to look back at the top 10 Video Games of 2011. These games will come from a variety of consoles including: PC, Xbox360, and PS3. The games that come from the consoles are a variety of genres from shooters and FPS’s (First Person Shooter); to strategy games; to RPG’s (Role Playing Game). This year had a great amount of anticipated games and the games that will live on forever.

This first game is the disappointment of the year in the gaming world. Many people will be shocked when I say that it is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. This has to be by far the most anticipated game of all time except for maybe Call of Duty: Black Ops. After only 24 after release date over 6.5 million copies were sold in the USA and U.K. alone making it the largest release of all time. I happened to be one of the people that purchased the game on release date. After putting the game in at around 1:00 A.M., I got bored of the game and stopped playing at around 2:00. The new game had a great campaign but lacked in multiplayer and special ops. The new ranking system made it better to be a camper and sit in the back of the map with an ACR. I feel like Call of Duty can do much better and hope that Black Ops 2 or whatever it is called is a step back in the right direction.

The most deserving game of the title would have to be Elder Scrolls: Skyrim created by Bethesda Games. This great game is a RPG that takes place in medieval times. Take control of over 10 different races from Orcs, Humans, and Elves. Then level up your character and skills. This game also has some of the best graphics to date and many people will argue that the best experience for the game is for the PC. Although the graphics are better on the PC, the game is better designed for use of the consoles but especially the Xbox 360 over the PS3. Many critics have said that the replay on this game is around 10 to 12 times to play with all of the different races. With the great graphics and game play, this is the best game of 2011 and would be a great game for Christmas and the holidays.

To wrap things up, this was a very good year in the video game world. With games like Batman, Portal 2, and Rage coming out, this year many consumers spent money on video games. The amount of commercials greatly increased and so did sales. Going with this pattern, next year will be even better than 2011.
