Mussel Bar in Bethesda Pleases in so Many Ways

Last night my husband, daughter and I went to the Mussel Bar in Bethesda. My husband loves moules et frites and he wanted to try Mussel Bar’s version of the dish. He was pleased, very pleased. My daughter had the hanger steak, cooked medium rare and it was tender as butter; she was pleased, very pleased. I had the fish and chips special, cod crisply coated in the lightest of batters with French fries almost as good as McDonalds. I was pleased, very pleased. We drank soda water, made in house and delivered in re-usable French bottles. We finished our meal with desserts of apple walnut cake, chocolate bread pudding, and crème brulee. We came in hungry, and we left pleased, very pleased.

The service, too, was pleasing. The waiter knew the menu, anticipated our needs, and worked quickly. We were pleased. However, we were not pleased with the noise level in the house, and we also wondered by the management chose such a dark and dreary palette for the colors in the restaurant. Perhaps it was to minimize a lack of good housekeeping…

The Mussel Bar Bethesda is located on Woodmont Avenue, convenient to public parking. The prices of the entrees range from $15 to $24. The wonderful soda water was $5 for two generous bottles.
