Ohio Band to Participate in 2011 Macy Day Parade

While I was looking for Thanksgiving Parades in Ohio, I didn’t find a lot. It seems that Christmas has become such a dominating winter holiday that one parade is usually held at the end of November or the beginning of December. One way to look at this is Thanksgiving is the beginning of the most important celebration in one’s life. What might that be some might ask. It’s the birth of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, in many ways the birth of Jesus Christ has become overshadowed by the commercialization of Christmas. However, this Yahoo Contributor looks for the gifts and talents God has given all of us. What better way to enjoy these things then a parade. The Macy’s Day Parade will be celebrating it’s eighty-fifth year of existance in 2011. The Macy’s Day Parade has been a Thanksgiving Day tradition for many viewers for a long time. This year a small university in Ohio has been givien the honor of playing “Santa Claus is Coming To Town” accorcing to www.portclintonnewsherald.com/MiamiUniversityofOhio’smarchingbandtoplayatmacy’sparade.. The Miami University of Ohio is the only Ohio band to get to play in this year’s parade. This is the second time that Miami University of Ohio has played in the Macy’s Day Parade. This band also played in the Macy Day’s Parade in 2003. The band director at MIami University of Ohio is Stephen Lytle according to www.portclintonnewsherald.com.

This Yahoo Contributor has visited the Miami University of Ohio campus. Miami University of Ohio is located in Oxford, Ohio. I had a cousin that graduated from Miami University of Ohio. It is a small college in Ohio that has a quaint, but honorable reputation. . The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger graduated from Miami University of Ohio.
The Macy Day Parade will be November 24th. The parade is held on Herald’s Square in New York City.

May this Thanksgiving be a day of giving thanks and celebrating one of America’s great traditions of watching the Macy Day Parade.
