Albany, Oregon is located in perhaps one of the most beautiful places on earth, and at Christmas time she is particularly inviting to all who wish to come and join in the holiday festivities. Whether it be a heartwarming play, a festive parade or even breakfast with Santa there are many fantastic holiday events to choose from.

Christmas Belles

Cost: $11/$8

A wonderfully funny play in which three sisters work at setting up Christmas events in their home town of Fayro, Texas. A must – see for the whole family, and it is played on various days to give all who wish to enjoy it, the opportunity to do so.

*The matinee on Dec. 4th is a benefit for the Safe Haven animal shelter. Those who bring item or cash to donate to Safe Haven will be given $3 off the ticket price.

Downtown Twice Around Parade and Community Tree Lighting

The parade will begin at River parking lot at Water Ave., and end at Two Rivers Market. The tree lighting will be after the parade.

Time: 2 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Cost: $10, $8 Seniors, children under 12 free when accompanied with paid adult

Some of Albany’s most beautiful historic homes are decorated in full splendor for the holidays, and are on display for all to see.

You can walk around and see the homes at your own leisure, or take a tour on a horse drawn wagon, or vintage trolley car.

There will be music and refreshments. Rides on the horse drawn wagon and vintage trolley are included in the price of the ticket.

Breakfast with Santa and a Movie

Sybaris Restaurant

Date: December 17

Time: 10 a.m.

Cost: $20

This special holiday day will begin at 10 a.m. at Sybaris Restaurant where your child will have breakfast with Santa, after which the children will have time to present their wishes to Santa. At the end of their time with Santa, he will present to each an early Christmas present.

After breakfast why not spend some time strolling the sidewalks of this historic area and take in the sights, sounds and smells of the holiday season. Take in the sights, spend a little time window shopping, then make it to the Pix Theater at 321 2nd Ave., SW. The free movie will be “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

Horse Drawn Christmas Caroling Wagon

311 1st Ave., W

Albany, Oregon

Date: December 16, 17 & 23

Time: 5:00 p.m.

Cost: $10 / $6 for children 4 – 11

Going Christmas caroling by wagon is a uniquely nostalgic way to enjoy the holidays. The wagons will carol through the historic Montieth homes district. Hot chocolate, hot cider, coffee and cookies will be available to carolers, and photo opportunities with the horses will be available before and after the rides.

Because a large turn – out is expected, it is recommended that reservations be made (541-908-5778).
