Break the Routine and Have Fun This Weekend!

Few things in life are more depressing than being stuck in the vicious circle of a boring routine! Unfortunately, it is so easy to end up in that evil, never-ending state of boredom!

Whether it’s the routine of going to work 8-5 then going home and watching TV, the routine of eating at the same place all the time or the routine of spending the entire weekend at home, a routine is only good for so long. For most people however it is difficult to figure out how to break a routine because that would require doing something unfamiliar and getting outside of their comfort zone.

A few years ago, I decided to break my own vicious circle of being bored and create my own adventures. I realized that waiting for something to happen, just won’t cut it, so here is my list to help you get started:

1. Get a Camera: Chances are you have a camera somewhere at home. Take that camera out and try your best at being a photographer. It gave me a whole new prospective on life! It is not just relaxing, it also made me leave the house and go into the great outdoors…Nature has so much to offer, so much beauty! And the best thing about it, it is always changing and it for the most part it doesn’t cost a dime to take pictures!
2. Get a Pedometer: One of the best “gadgets” I own is a pedometer! The daily goal is to get 10,000 steps. Now instead of driving, I walk to the store, I walk to a restaurant for dinner, I ask friends to join me for walks…all in an effort to reach that goal. Even better…get friends and family to get a pedometer as well, so you can push each other to reach 10,000 steps per day. Walk for fun and walk for life! 3. Go On a Road Trip: A road trip in unlike any vacation you will ever take. It doesn’t require you to be somewhere at a certain time or wait in line, or be searched and screened etc. every step of the way. All it takes is a vehicle, a few friends or family members and a great attitude. It gives you flexibility to do what you want when you want it and I can tell you from experience, it can be a lot cheaper than flying. A road trip can be as long or as short as you want it to be! Flexibility is it’s best asset! 4. Take a walk on the beach/hike in the mountain: Walking in itself is an excellent way to relax. Walking on the beach or taking a hike in a local mountain is absolutely breathtaking. The fresh air, the sound of the waves or the sound of the wind breezing through the trees is an exhilarating experience. Promise me you will try! 5. Attend a Gallery Opening: You don’t have to be art expert to attend a Gallery Opening! Just search your local area and find out where those are held. For the most part, they are free…and usually they serve drinks and appetizers for the attendees. It’s a excellent way to socialize, meet people and learn something new and most importantly, get out of your comfort zone! 6. Attend a sporting event/concert/musical: You don’t have to be a sports fan to attend a game and you don’t have to love opera to see a musical. There is just something about being amidst a large crowd of people at an event! It can give you so much energy. Whether a baseball game, a comedy show, a concert or a play, whatever it is…try it out! I guarantee you will have the time of your life and amazing memories to cherish! I always do!

Life is all about creating moments and keeping the unforgettable memories of those. Sitting around won’t do either! I challenge you to try one or more of the above ideas and see how they can change your life! They changed mine!
