Holiday Parties

Here we go, it’s that time of year,
Lots to eat and lots of cheer.
With bosses and co-workers gathered around,
And lots of lousy jokes abound.

Our family gathers at my place,
I’d really rather hide my face.
And wake up tomorrow to find
That the holiday season is all behind.

It’s not that I’m a grinch, of course,
I’d rather celebrate with my horse.
He doesn’t mind if I’m myself,
He always says just be yourself.

On New Year’s Eve I’d rather be,
Alone beneath my Christmas tree.
My music, poems, and egg nog too,
Will promise not to make me blue.
