The Music of Life

People live in a fast paced world and carry out extremely demanding work that increases mental stress and gives very little room for relaxation. Classical music and music that flows like a ballad helps people to sit and relax themselves while other music helps to stimulate emotion. Loud fast music can help energize and even promote anger in individuals, while soft poetic music can promote tranquility and peace, calming someone’s heart and soul. This is one of many reasons why music considered important by most people. But the fact remains true that there few other people who do not find music so important because, either they do not find time to listen to music or they do not find it amusing or stimulating.

Music has become a part of people’s everyday routine. When people wake up in the morning they hear their alarm clock radio playing. People listen to music when they hop into their cars to drive to work. They hear music on public buses, during religious services, shopping malls and all the way to their workplace. Music helps people to forget and overcome the burden of their work and feel refreshed.
Today music is widely used by doctors in treating mental and physical issues; especially by psychiatrists and cardiologists. Doctors believe that music can help people recover from all types of ailments from mental depression to heart diseases. It has been proven in studies that people who listen to mild music for 10 minutes a day are less likely to develop heart problems than who do not listen to music at all. Music’s appearance in medicine is only recent but has made major improvements in many people’s lives outside of medical practice.

Music for some people is a way of remembering the past and looking back on times that were good and times that were bad. Almost every couple has that one song that defines them, whether it be “Baby, I Love Your Way” by Peter Frampton or “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin. Music is something that helps people define themselves and allows people to express their innermost personality and desires. What would life be like today without Mozart’s “Requiem Mass” or Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven”..? Music is used to define generations and pass down the way people lived and viewed the world.

Many people feel that music is a good companion for them when they are alone, when they travel, when they’re sad, happy or even in love. Also, music helps keep people in touch and maintain their cultural values. Jazz music originated in the south being played African American slaves, many of their social values were incorporated into this new style of music. And this music has been kept in a separate community because of its importance – which helped preserve core cultural values.

Since music helps people both personally and helps maintain their culture values, music is loved and considered important by most people. People who do not understand the importance of music can be edified so they can also imbue and indulge in music.
