How to heal a swollen/bruised ankle fast?
Q: I had 3 soccer games yesterday. During the first one I rolled it. So I taped it up and played in the 2nd and 3rd game. I know I shouldn’t have played on it, but I’ve sprained my other ankle twice, and this time it didn’t hurt as bad so I thought it would be ok. But when I woke up today it was crazy swollen and bruised pretty bad. It’s really painful, I probably sprained it. What should I do besides the RICE method to heal fast?
A: First of all, the RICE method is old news. Now you should use PRINCE, which stands for protection, rest, ice, nsaids (or painkillers), compression, and elevation. Make sure you ice it consistently every day (about three times) and use a compression bandage (should look like a sock with a hole for the heel) to keep swelling down. If you choose to play soccer right now, make sure you wear a plastic ACE brace that restricts most movement. This is what I use, don’t worry it fits in your shoe and you can still run easily in it. I would also recommend going to a chiropractor. They adjust your ankle, which feels really good, and sometimes limping after an injury can throw your back out of whack and even injure your knee without even knowing it. I would really recommend doing this, or at least go to a doctor to see what you specifically can do. I would wait at least a week to go though, unless swelling increases or you have severe pain even when you ice it and no movement. Feel better!
how do you fix a swollen and bruised ankle?
Q: i hurt my ankle playing soccer i really want it to heal quickly if you have any tips it would be greatly appreciated.cheers for any answers
A: Bruising means that you did injure it. Grasp your calf about midway between the ankle and knee with both hands and squeeze the two long bones together, hard. If there is pain in the ankle, you should see a doctor. The other person also had good suggestions. Ice it. Elevate it. Wrap it with an ace bandage. Stay off it as much as possible.Good luck!
Painful, swollen, bruised ankle/fibula?
Q: I rolled my ankle about 3 weeks ago, and it is still very painful and very swollen. I have bruising over foot, ankle, and up my the outside of my leg. Unable to bear weight and movement is limited. X rays taken 2 weeks ago were negative. What could it be??
A: A torn ligament or damaged tendon? Soft tissue injury doesn’t show up on xrays so u need to rest the ankle & use compressive thermal supports to help healing & prevent reinjury.
