A: Reaction to chemicals, food, fleas etc knock out a dogs immune system, so you need to build your dogs immune system so it fully functions and he can fight whatever is causing the reaction……… daily neem oil is very good which builds the immune system, promotes strong teeth and bones coat and skin and protects against mites, fleas, worms and ticks ( so you don’t then need to give chemical products for protection for these)
How long does it take for an allergic reaction?
Q: I am allergic to erythromycin. My doc prescribed the Z-pak, family member of erythromycin. He states it is not a derivitive of erythromycin. I almost died taking erythromycin. I just took a dose, how long would it take for an allergic reaction to it, He is pretty sure I won’t get one. I am just curious.
A: Z-Pak contains capsules which hold a drug called azithromycin, an antibiotic in the same family of drugs as erythromycin called macrolides. There is a clear warning that people who have had previous allergic reactions to erythromycin should not take azithromycin.Depending on how serious your priro reaction was, you may want to be ready to bolt to the hospital. You can also take a benedryl right now which will limit the severity of any reaction that may happen.I would call the doctor and ask for another antibiotic. I would also call the pharmacy to ask them to put a note on your chart indicating that you are allergice to erythromycin. Here is the address for the official zithromax website.http://www.zithromax.com/html/zith_zpak.htmGood luck.
I have an allergic reaction to erythromycin, can I take amoxicilin or penicilin?
Q: My father says I have an allergic reaction to erythromycin. Is amoxicilin or penicilin still safe for me to take? Thanks!
A: Since these drugs are from different drug families, it is not likely that because you have reacted to one, that you would automatically have an allergy to the other group. But is this always the case- NO. You can have reactions to things that you have had many times before. It is hit or miss depending on your antiboidies. If you are concerned, mention this to your doctor and also ask your pharmacist. Read the information that comes with the meds and ask questions on anything that is not clear.Be advised that not all reactions happen within minute of taking the medication; some can occur later (6-8 hours later). Watch for symptoms, since you have already had a reaction they caould be similar. Your informational packet will also describe what the most common symptoms are. If you feel weird, call the doctor or pharmacy. They will be able to help answer questions. Any severe reaction symptoms like face swelling or slurring of speech call 911 and get to the ER.
