10 (Affordable) Ways to Say “I Love You”

When it comes to doing something a little extra for the one you love, it does not need to be extravagant. In fact, doing something as simple as leaving a love note where your loved one will find it is better than any gift you could find in the stores. This is the time when the thought really does count! There are hundreds of ways that you can creatively say “I love you.” Here is a small list to get you started.

1. Send an email: Take advantage of technology and send a short, but sweet, memo telling him/her how much you love them and are thinking about them. 2. Post-it: This is a personal favorite of mine. My husband is in the military and keeps his uniform hanging in the bathroom where he gets ready each morning. I often leave a sticky note on his uniform. I always get a call later! 3. Make coffee: Program the coffee maker so that it brews and is ready to pour by the time your loved one leaves for work. 4. Reminisce: Spend an evening recalling how you first met. Talk about how you felt when you first saw one another. Look at pictures of your lives together. 5. Shower them: Literally! Everyone in a while, I will shower my husband or prepare a bath for him. Afterwards, I give him a complete massage by candlelight. 6. Do their chores: Surprise him/her by doing a chore that they usually do. It could be kitchen duty, taking out the trash, mowing the lawn, etc. 7. Candlelit dinner: Make their favorite meal and serve it by candlelight. To make it even better, arrange for the kids (if you have them) to stay with family or friends for a few hours, and dress up for dinner. 8. Meet and greet: Greet your lover at the door…with enthusiasm! Shower them with kisses and tell them how much you missed them. 9. Say it with music: Download “your song” or one that reminds you of them and email it to them, put it on their iPod, or put it on their computer desktop. 10. Plan a picnic: Choose a nice, secluded spot and enjoy one another. Just simply reclining on a blanket and focusing on each other can do wonders. It can be simple or you can go all out by bringing a bottle of wine and some fancy finger foods.

Saying “I love you” is extremely important in a relationship. Too many times we get stuck in a rut and forget the little things. As we get older, time starts to really fly by; do not let a day go by that you do not let your loved one know how you feel. Regret is an ugly beast!
