Ideal Vehicles for College Students

Many campus’s forbid freshmen from having vehicles on campus. This policy protects students from getting off the right track to a good education. However, by their second year, vehicles are allowed. Students use them for jobs and errands, as well as school business. This article reviews several vehicles, that are ideal for college students.

College students need a vehicle that is economical, can carry their belongings and help transport friends around and off campus.

Toyota Prius
College students do not have a lot of money to spend. Yet, they need an automobile that is dependable and is gas efficient. If the Prius breaks down, you can easily find replacement parts. This means you will probable have less down time. It has front wheel drive that is great for college students that live in the northern part of the United States. It is also known for being one of the cleanest vehicles sold.

Ford Focus
The American made Focus is another good automobile that gets excellent gas mileage. This vehicle gets gas mileage as high as the mid to upper 30’s. It is also a rather inexpensive purchase in the automobile market. This is a great car for the student that doesn’t have a lot of money to spend on a vehicle. New vehicles cost between $16-$18 thousand. Parts and repairs can be handled in almost every area of the United States.

Chevy Cavalier (used)
Although no longer made, there are plenty of these used vehicles left around. They get good gas mileage, are very dependable, have plenty of room and very inexpensive. You can find a used Cavalier between the $2500 to $5000 range. They also have front wheel drive that is great for winter travel. I have owned two of these and really enjoyed driving them.

Chevy Cobalt
Last year was the final year for the Cobalt. However, like the Cavalier, there are plenty still around. The Cobalt is economical on gas, can transport up to four individuals, have plenty of trunk space and is rather sporty looking. Depending on the year of the car and mileage, costs go from $3500 to $9000. Like the other four automobiles mention, it is easy to find repair parts when needed.

These are four vehicles that I would consider great for college students. They are quality vehicles that are worth the price. They are great for reselling once you leave college and get something more to your liking
