Scrapbooks: What Type Can I Make?

Scrapbooks often carry a theme, even though they don’t have to. Creating a theme makes the book flow together so it’s more like you’re reading a book instead of looking through random pages. I love creating themes in my scrapbooks. I have been doing themes for years as I think they look better. If you’re lost on what kind of theme you can do with a scrapbook here are some quick ideas.

Baby Scrapbooks

If you have a baby or lots of baby pictures, then creating a baby scrapbook is fun and easy. You can title the scrapbook with their name or you can put something like “Baby’s First Year”. Inside of the scrapbook you should include a title page. This usually has their name and date of birth added to it. You can add how much they weigh and where they were born if you want to add more detail to the book. It’s all up to you on how much information you really want to add. After that the book should read as a story. Try and keep everything in a time line so as you flip the pages, you can see how the bay has grown in their first year.

Wedding Scrapbook

These can be really fun to plan, if you have had lots of steps leading up to the wedding. The front page should serve as a title page. If there were wedding showers or a bachelor party, then you should start with that. You want to stick in order of the wedding as much as possible. Think of it as if you were not at the wedding. When looking through the book you want to feel as if you were there. Setting the stage for this starts with your order in pages. So your title page to start with should be the first event that happened. Get creative with the title. Then the pages that follow should fall into place of that event. Once you have completed that section, you can move on to another title page. Title this one as the second event. Keep going in order until you’re finished. Later on in years when you’re showing off the wedding book, the person looking will feel as if they were a part of it.

Traveling Scrapbook

This can be another fun scrapbook. You can create a scrapbook of one vacation or several vacations joined in one book. The choice is up to you. Don’t forget to include things like airplane ticket stubs, hotel receipts and anything else you can think of. If you took any tours, then the maps can be a perfect background for your page. Get creative with the items you have on hand. Just because you scrapbook doesn’t mean you have to spend a ton of money on supplies. You have a lot of supplies right in front of you, things you were probably planning on throwing away.

Past Year Scrapbook

These are something that I complete each year. I find them fun and a great way to look back on specific years. While I have other themed scrapbooks as well, these are by far my favorite. These scrapbooks include all the highlights from the year before. The title pages always have the year listed and something catchy such as “Family and Friends in 2011″. They are fun to work with because you have no guidelines to follow. The only rule that I try to follow is keeping them in monthly order. So my first set of pictures would be things that happened in January. I do special events and fun events in this book. If you went on vacation and have a special book dedicated to it, that’s fine, you can still make a page for your yearly book to include that vacation. It was part of your past year, so include a page or two. Just don’t go overboard since you have an entire book about it.

These are just some ideas to the themes you can create. If they don’t sound like fun, then just create a book and title it “My Scrapbook”. It doesn’t have to go on a theme at all.
