A: every birth control method has some sort of failure rate, so there is always a chance. For example I was taking Yaz religiously and got pregnant. And as for the shot my sister in law and actually 7 months pregnant and she conceived while on Depo… and I have heard of a few other people that conceived while on Depo as well, so just to be safe I would check it out. No birth control is fool proof though so always be careful =] Good Luck!

Q: I know someone that says they are 7 weeks pregnant, but they are on the depo shot and have been for 3 years. I have another friend that says that shes been on the depo shot for 4-5 years now and her bf never uses condoms and never pulls out and shes hasn’t gotten pregnant. A: Depo is about 99% effective, just like oral contraceptives. It’s unlikely that she is, but not impossible. When I took Depo, I never even had a menstrual cycle. And didn’t for almost 6 months after I got off of it. Very unlikely she got pregnant while on Depo.
