I heard not to swim in lakes while pregnant b/c of the bacteria can get in the birth canal.
Q: The lakes around here are so poluted with urine and feces and boat polution. But I didn’t think about it b/c I figured nothing can get past the mucus plug. But I didnt’ think about bacteria infections. What do you think? Oh I’m 26 weeks pregnant.
A: I dont think you have to worry. Your cervix is completely closed throughout pregnancy until you are ready to go into labour so no bacteria will affect the baby whatsoever.Worst case scenario: you end up with a yeast infection which is easily treatable or some skin irritation. Nothing that will hurt the baby.I have been swimming several times this summer in the lake. However, maybe try to stick to cleaner lakes? I always make sure I swim in clean lakes as oppose to ones full of urine and feces. I dont think I’d want to swim in that at ANY time, let alone when Im pregnant. If you’re really concerned, see your doctor to make sure.Good Luck~
Losing breath while pregnant?
Q: this is probably a really dumb question but I’m 34 weeks pregnant and as I’m sure some of you can relate to, I lose my breath all the time – especially when I’m talking a lot! So when I’m saying a big sentence to someone and I don’t breathe for 3 or 4 seconds does that hurt my baby?? I’m guessing no since people swim while pregnant and I’m sure hold their breath in bursts, but I thought I would ask if me becoming winded or holding my breath for a few seconds at a time could hurt my baby? Thanks!!
A: You’re baby’s growing and taking up a lot of your lung space, it’s normal. But mention it to your Dr on your next prenatal anyways. Good luck.
okay ladies, please ease my worries about swimming while pregnant.?
Q: this is my 4th pregnancy and i can’t believe i am gonna ask this!but we went out to the lake today and a friend had called the cell, when i told her where i was she was like “you can’t swim! your pregnant” the pressure is to much on the baby!then later my hubbys grandma said i would “drown the baby”which i know is just old wives..but my friend….wrong right? i’m 5 weeks.THANKS!!
A: Both of these people have no idea what they are talking about. there is a mucus plug that forms in the cervix during the first trimester that prevents anything from entering the uterus, even water and sperm. Swimming is the best form of exercise as long as your doctor has approved exercise.water pressure affects the baby just as much as it affects you, so just no deep sea diving ok! :-PLOL at drown the baby. the baby lives in fluid!
