Q: not the complex moves just the simple hip movements and upper body isolations? has any other women done belly dance while pregnant?
A: There are women who bellydance while pregnant. Last month, when I took a friend out for her bday, I had a great conversation with a food server who had used a prenatal bellydancing dvd during her last pregnancy and was really happy with the regimen. I’ve also been in bellydancing classes in which women found out they were pregnant and chose to discontinue dancing. A lot of it seems to hinge on how comfortable you feel and, of course, how healthy the pregnancy is. Your ob/gyn is a great person to follow up on with this question, since there could always be some additional and highly relevant information about your situation that we on this board don’t know about. I’ve tacked on 2 links for you to check out, one is to an article discussing bellydancing while pregnant on shira.net (excellent site for all things bellydance and has other related links on the page) and one is to a specific dvd so you can check out what other people felt about their experiences. You could even choose to print out the article to take to your next dr’s appointment for a quick review and discussion.

Q: Mum 2 be please help??
A: First, I should note: I am not a doctor, however, as far as I know:First four months; you should be fine…the baby/fetus does not begin to move until about 16 weeks. On the other hand, depending on how much and what kind of pole dancing you are doing, you could fall and hurt the baby/fetus.After 16 weeks; it might begin to feel uncomfortable to pole dance, and the further along you are, the more stress it could cause the baby/fetus. And once again, you could fall and hurt the baby/fetus.Though I am not suggesting that you pole dance while pregnant, I have been given some tips from a friend:–Use latex boots to have more grip on the pole–No stiletto heel; platforms will give you more balance–Thongs might not be the best idea; your hips are widening, so it may be rather uncomfortable.–Beware of swollen hands and feet; use gymnastic chalk to have more grip on the pole.My best advice is to go to a doctors office or clinic, or maybe a planned parenthood center; and get your prenatal care. It is expensive, but they will be the people who will be able to help you the most in determining what kind of lifestyle you should lead until your baby is born. Prenatal care will include determining a diet and exercise routine, as well as ultra-sounds and other checkups. Also; I would like to note that it is rude of the many other answerer’s to accuse you of getting pregnant just because you pole dance. Whether it is true or not, it is not right to assume or accuse you of becoming pregnant because of your career choice.
