Do you think my guinea pig is pregnant?

Q: I work in a pet shop and I bought a female guinea pig from there. We were a little confused as we thought she was a boy at first and i think she was mixed with the males accidentally. Therefore it is possible she could be pregnant and I’m keeping a close eye on her to look out for any tell tale signs! The earliest she could be through her pregnancy is 4-5 weeks as that is when she was separated from any males, so I realise it may still be difficult to tell. She has become a lot fatter and rounded at the belly since I got her. She seems to eat and drink a lot but I have nothing to compare her to. I once had a pregnant guinea pig before but this was many years ago when I was a child so I don’t remember the signs that well except I remember her getting a round tummy. She only had one baby so i don’t think she got as big as guinea pigs can get when pregnant. Anyway, apart from the rounded tummy I’ve not noticed anything else really, she vocalizes a lot but I don’t know if that’s got anything to do with it. I gently felt her tummy today and could feel like a rounded egg shaped kinda lump in side her, I don’t know if that could be a baby or just her fat or insides? She does seem to be getting a bit more irritable when I handle her lately and didn’t seem to like me touching her tummy today that much, she hasn’t been bothered before but she is bigger now….could it be possible that she’s pregnant?

A: well my guinea pig just had babies, her tummy was rounded to and she became more vocalized and started drinking and eating a lot to.It does sound like she is pregnantnormally its hard to tell as they are just as active as they would normally be.i do think she is pregnant from the sounds of it!take her to a vet and the will tell you!good luck if she is!
