Q:
A: All the stats you are looking for at here (in PDF) http://www.cdph.ca.gov/data/statistics/Documents/STD-Data-2007-Report.pdf You just have to sort through the info carefully to get the info you need. CA keeps stats on reportable infections, namely chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis as well as more onscure things like chancroid and PID. We do NOT collect data on HPV or herpes.
how do you feel about the relevance of these std statistics and race?
Q: do you find them bias? is the rates alarming? what do u think?personally I think that there is some bias in it however there are some factors such as poverty, drug use, lack of awareness, etc amongst certain races therefore proving these statistics to be somewhat factual also, did u find these numbers to be higher than u expected with american’s in general?http://www.cdc.gov/std/Trends2000/Trends2000.pdfi know their facts…but anyone can state facts that aren’t true….to make some races look bad….i believe that its mostly true and i put this out there to educate people however if u actually look at the stats the rates sky rocketed high for one race of people than EVERY other race which has me thinking if this is even TOTALLY true13 of 36 is the section im referring to most
A: no ….they are rite on the mark …. black dudes will sleep w/ whtevr…(in general) white girls rates are a lil high (cause of the mudshark trend) . white dudes know to only tip the stripper not bring her home … srry not what u wanted to hear but facts are facts
What do you think about these STD statistics?
Q: I am currently watching the local news, and new statistics have been released that say that 1 in 4 teenage girls has an STD. I find this information to be very disturbing. What do you think? What do you think we can do to change these statistics? How should we change our sexual education system? Any other thoughts?OK, since so many people question the “1 in 4” how about this: SEVENTEEN MILLION cases of STDs are reported every year. Seventeen million people a year get an STD. You can’t just shrug that off.Sadie: They said the age ranges were, I believe, the whole teenage age range (13 to 19) although I could be mistaken.
A: In my high school we do not even recieve sex ed AT ALL. I think that should be changed and kids should be taught about protection rather than abstinance. Now before you give me a thumbs down just hear me out. Think about when you were young and someone told you not to do something and that it is bad for you. You get curious and want to try it so telling kids not to have sex will only make them more curious and make them want to have sex more, not less.STD’s primarily come from unprotected sex. Now think if your school never taught you about condoms or birth control or any other means of preventing pregnancies and STD’s. You would be completely clueless when it comes to that area and, low and behold, 1 out of 4 kids will contract an STD or become pregnant from being poorly educated in these issues that NEED to be addressed. If kids are properly educated on ways to protect themselves and their partner(s), they will become more responsible, STD-less and child-less kids. Parents should also have a role in educating their children in means of protecting themselves. Once again, instead of preaching abstinance, which most teenagers will not practice, they should be teaching their children on ways of protection such as introducing them on how to use condoms and keeping open discusions with them about sex.
