A: Hi, I am a cat behavior, and I had long time ago, had experience this with my female cat… and yes.. i did have her fixed after the birth. We did kept the kittens, and all was well cared. Cat have very good instinct on caring for their babies. What you will have to start is get a nice big box with nice warm towel ready. It is good to also give here a nice quiet place and a towel to cover the box, to give her good isolation to care for her babies. Make sure food and litter are close by for her to use. Water and dry cat food is good, so she gets her nutrients and does not get dehydrated! Pregnancy can be as short as 57 days or as long as 70 days, but few days before birth the female becomes restless and searches out her chosen shelter. You will also see her patting for breath!The best place is the closet if you have one.. a nice and quite away from foot traffic. I only took her to the VET once before the birth and than after when the kittens are born. The mama cat will take care of cleaning the babies, and be best to not touch them once their eyes are open, or when she trust you. Mine was so funny, she took them out of the box, and want them other the blanket where she sleeps.. which is under my feet! Here is a good link for you to read…
