sex and pregnancy after giving birth?
Q: I have a 19 day old (2weeks and 5days old) daughter, I had a very easy and quick delivery with little recovery time. I just had sex for the first time again this evening. I know you are suppose to wait 6 weeks, i broke the rules and am not planning on doing it again soon. My husband was only inside for less than 5 min. and he did not ejaculate, we were also in the shower. I just started the mini pill today and am only breastfeeding and pumpping. I am worried about getting pregnant again. I was wondering if any one knows how soon after giving birth you ovulate? what are my chances of getting pregnant?(just a guess) thank you for your help!
A: I have a friend who got pregnant almost as soon as she was able to have sex again. She now has a three year old and a set of twins who are two. All three of which were born in the same month and a year apart almost to the day. I would really be careful if your not ready for baby #2 already. I have seen the toll baby #1 takes from not getting as much attention from mommy once the new baby is born. I wouldn’t suggest having sex again until you can use protection of some sort. The pull out method can be faulty!! Best of luck!
what is the likeliness of post natal depression getting worse?
Q: Hi,I got post nate after having my lil boy on the 5th dec 07 and started taking treatment for it (and i think i should add that 1 week after i had given birth to my lil boy my husband had to leave for 6 months to go to iraq so that contributed towards the depression, as i was only young and first time mum)Anyway i found out i was pregnant again oct 08 (was still taking treatment) and i read the leaflet that said to stop taking the tablets if pregnant or breastfeeding so i did and made an appointment with my GP and she said that i should really finish the course of medication (as i was that bad) but it hadn’t been prooven that taking the medication would not affect my unborn child. So in the interest of my babies health and safety i stopped taking them.I still feel really down and i am finding it hard to get excited about my baby and still feel as low as i did back in 07.Some people keep saying to me that this baby will pull me out of this spiral i feel like i am in, but im not seeing it happen, all i can see is myself getting worse (but i know that’s how depression make you feel)So i was just wondering what the chances are of it being the same or worse than last time? Thanks xi started off on citalopram and then went onto fluoxetine and my GP said same ablout both…no proof that they dont hurt baby
A: Maxatach – you may be a doctor, though I have my doubts, but you are advertising online medications and you should be ashamed of yourself.Danni, ignore the advice above!Go and see your doctor again and explain the situation. It might be helpful to get some ‘talking therapy’, but the first thing you need to do is to get the support of your doctor.

A: I had severe post natal depression after my second child. I’d had so many complications prior to having her, (see my tag) I just never really got my head around the fact i was actually having a baby and everything Id gone through to get her hit me the moment she was born. I found out i was pregnant again when she was 5 months and was panicking like you. to be honest, for me, the new baby didnt make the depression worse or better. things stayed the same. I did feel guilty that Id bonded better with the new baby than i had with my daughter though. My marriage also fell apart when the new baby was 9 months. Not because of my depression, for other reasons, so i had that to deal with too. What i can say to you, is it really really will get better. My children are now 10, 4 and 3, and I am totally depression free, have been for a year now, living a great life and living it to the full. You will get through it. Congratulations on the new baby. Wishing you all the very best. x.
