My question is what could possibly be worng?? I know i need alot of blood tests done. Am i going to be able to have kids???
A: well it may be that your ovaries are shutting down or something. if you dont start having periods you mite not be able to have kids. it all depends on what the doctor finds out.
Well, I haven’t had my period in over 6 months, what could be wrong?
Q: I’m already making an appointment to see a doctor. But I was just wondering what could be the reasons I haven’t had it in so long. It’s been like this for a few years now. I’m lucky if I get it 3-4 times a year.. But it hasn’t happened. I know I’ve been stressed out. But I’m wondering if it could be other things. I’m 20. I’m not on birth control. I’m a virgin, plus I’m a lesbian so there is no chance I’m pregnant. I’m sooo not an athlectic person. I do work alot, and work stresses me.
A: There is no way anyone on here could answer this. You are already doing what you need to do…seeing a doctor. They need to do blood test to check your hormone levels. If you’re underweight that will affect your cycle. Stress will affect your cycle. Thyroid can affect your cycle. PCOS can affect your cycle. Different types of birth control (again hormones) can affect it. Competitive athletes….So many things, and none can be diagnosed on Y!A…only a doctor doing a physical, taking your medical history, doing some bloodwork, etc. can actually diagnose and find the cause. Good luck!
I haven’t gotten my period in 6 months!?
Q: I’m turning 16 next month. My last period was May 4 and it ended on the 10. I haven’t gotten it in a while. This has happened before. I never get it on time, last year i thought i was having a “pattern” but it only lasted 2 months and I never got it again till a loooong time from that. starting from last september till now, i only had my period THREE times. On september 12, January 30, and May 4. I’ve had my period for about 4-5 years now. I don’t even get it that much. What could be wrong? Do i have polycystic ovary syndrome? Am i anemic?Everytime i went to the doctors i told them i was “fine” and i got them every month. If i go again and get a checkup and say i never really got them that much…will they know i lied before??? thats what im afraid of! is any of this stuff genetic?
A: Missing or infrequent periods can be caused by almost anything. It could be stress, anxiety, or your hormones may just be out of whack. Some women don’t have anything at all wrong with them but have irregular periods. It’s a simple fix. Just take birth control pills and that will regulate your cycle. You simply get your period in between packs. That’s it. If you’re really that worried though, you should go back to the doctor and tell them what’s really going on. If you see the same doctor, they will know that you lied to them before. But it’s okay! Just tell them that you were scared, that’s all. They won’t get angry at you. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome does cause you to have irregular or missing periods, but it also causes you to have unexplained weight gain, and hair where it shouldn’t be like your back or chest. I have PCOS and it’s not genetic. Don’t worry. But you should definitely go and get it checked out. PCOS can cause ovarian cysts and those are painful. Don’t wait until it’s too late.
