Most fertile days coming up but can I still get pregnant now?
Q: I use a calculator to see when my most fertile days for conception would be. But you can still get pregnant before and after…of course. But what I’m wondering then..is days when you’re not the most fertile what are the chances of getting pregnant..like when you’re least fertile – right after your period. And is it just “easier” to get pregnant on the most fertile days?
A: It is possible to get pregnant if you have sex a few days before or a few days after you ovulate because of the short life cycle of the egg and the longer life cycle of the sperm. Sperm can live 3-5 days so if you have sex in the 5 days before your ovulation then you can get pregnant. An egg lives 1-2 days so you also possibly have 2 more days after ovulation actually occurs. So, you have roughly one week each month that you can pregnant – if you do indeed ovulate, that is – and if your cervical fluid is the fertile type of fluid. Some months you may not release an egg and therefore have 0% chance of getting pregnant even if you have sex every single day.
Best and worst times to get pregnant?
Q: I’ve heard several different things and I wouls just like some clearing up…I’ve always figured that the days right after your period is when it is least likely to get pregnant. The days inbetween the end of your period and the beginning of your next period is when it is most likely to get pregnant. And the days right before your period is when it’s least likely.Of course, in reality, you could get pregnant at anytime, right?Am I right or do I have days mixed up?(I hope this was easy to understand..)
A: The best time to get pregnant is to have sex 1 to 2 days before you ovulate. Women ovulate at different times during their cycle. Some can even ovulate during their period. The best thing is go get an ovulation test from the drug store and find out what your most fertile days are. Use this method for a couple months, because the days can fluctuate. And don’t have sex any where near that time if you don’t want to get pregnantMost women ovulate around 14 days after the first day of their period. The sperm can last up to around a week, and the egg once it has been released can last for around 2 to 3 days normally. So I would assume the best time to not get pregnant would be to have sex a week after ovulation. But that’s just my calculations, I can’t guarantee that.http://www.sexualityandu.ca/faqs/index_e.aspx?cid=5#q537http://www.sexualityandu.ca/faqs/index_e.aspx?cid=5#q529http://www.sexualityandu.ca/faqs/index_e.aspx?cid=5
Why do so many couples only have sex when the girl is ovulating and wonder why they aren’t pregnant?
Q: I’ve seen so many questions about people wondering why they’re not pregnant yet. A lot of them are only having sex when they think they ovulated. If I had only had sex around when I thought I ovulated I never would have gotten pregnant. People don’t seem to realize that you can ovulate early or late. I myself ovulated like 4 days after my period. I know I got pregnant a lot easier than most (first month of trying). Why not skip the temp charting, cm charting, and ovulation tests. Just have sex every other day and you’re guaranteed to hit your ovulation days. People have made trying to get pregnant into to much of a science. Do you think people are just focusing on when they are ovulating to have sex? And skipping have sex on other days?I know I’ll probably get crap for this. I do know that there are couples out there who have real medical reasons why they are having trouble getting pregnant. But this is talking about the couples that only have sex around when they think they ovulate and wonder why they aren’t getting pregnant.
A: I do have to say many people take getting pregnant very seriously and make it out as a chore but if people just had fun with it and let it happen it would mean so much more as a gift rather than a pay off for the hard work. Although, I do understand people have trouble getting pregnant and I understand it doesn’t just happen for them.
