What can we do to receive lucid dreams? How can we gain control of what we want to dream?
Q: When I dream, the dreams vary and they’re impossible to control. They somehow control me. What can I do to be rewarded lucid dreams? If you are a knowledgeable expert on dreams, tell me what you know. Tell me what to do so I can follow directions to getting lucid dreams.
A: Here are a few things I use to control my dreams when they get out of hand, or I just feel like avoiding nightmares. The first and most important thing is to realize that you are dreaming. This can be hard to do; as you have to really think about if what you are doing makes sense. After you’ve realized it, you’ll be much better off.-Before going to sleep-Sometimes when I go to sleep, I turn on some calming music or turn the tv on to a show I like, instead of just sitting in the darkness and trying to fall asleep. It helps if you’re comfortable. What you can also try (as I have done in the past) is thinking up a story or theme of something you like, enjoy doing, or anything really that makes you happy. If you just keep thinking of this, it may help you drift off into a calmer dream and it may become easier for you to control. If all else fails try clearing your mind completely when you fall asleep, so that way your thoughts will not run ramped through your brain, thus generally causing the thoughts to manipulate your dreams. If you have a clear mind then your dreams will be somewhat easier to control.-While Sleeping-Here’s a strange yet sometimes efficient way to get out of a nightmare. If you’re having a nightmare, try and stop to think for just a small moment. If you can do that, great. While stopped if you shake your head repeatedly back and forth, you will sometimes escape your nightmare and either wake up or switch to a different dream. It’s weird, I know. But it works.Hope this helps!
Can you control your dreams or dream of whatever you want to?
Q: Any experiences that you can share would be appreciated.
A: In my opinion, dreams can be controlled, but not entirely. From my experience there are always elements beyond the dreamer’s control. I use to call them keys, because in my opinion they hold the entire dream’s meaning. All the other elements seem to be fake. For example, I dreamed once I was in a crowded area. People were moving in all directions, but they seemed to have no purpose at all. And there was all this noise from their voices and footsteps. Among those people, there was a person, who was clearly trying to get out from the crowd. I began to ignore the people around and the noise was replaced by silence. Even more, people started to act like ghosts, passing right through each other and through objects, walls etc. To my surprise that person, opened a door, not just passing through it like the others did. I followed that person to a back alley and woke up… A few days later there was dream which started from that very back alley where I met a blind girl looking for someone from her past…The important thing here it that I had no control over the actions of the person I followed….The difficulty for me, once I become aware I’m in a dream is not to wake up. Usually, everything disappears and I wake up, because there are too many details. It’s like someone is showing you dozens of pictures, then suddenly takes them away, leaving you with fragments of memories. But sometimes I manage to think of a place and a way to get there. Windows and Doors seem to do the trick :). The most common area I imagine is a lake during a sunny day. I just love to skate on water with my bare feet. There were some occasions in which becoming aware that I dream, I continue to dream changing the dream scenario. Once I dreamed a teenager stabbed me in the stomach. I fell down feeling a lot of pain. But when I noticed there’s no blood, I got up laughing at the kid. He stabbed me again, but I didn’t feel anything. I woke up while he was running way…So, yes, control is possible, but always expect some sort of limitations. As for dreaming whatever you want, as long as all the important details are covered, it’s possible.
