How to keep mind blank and undisturbed while meditating?
Q: How can one concentrate and keep mind blank and undisturbed for a couple minutes during the meditation despite of the external environmental disturbances. As it seems hard to keep a spontaneous wandering mind at rest. Plz suggest tips.
A: This is something that takes time and regular practice to develop and learn. … It is important to find a practice that feels right for you. There are many different approaches to meditation. Once you have that approach, commit to doing it every day at the same time and at the same location. .. Try to make the location a special ritual spot that you respect and confine to the special ritual of daily meditation practice. In the beginning of learning to meditate,… it is very normal to experience the over active and seemingly uncontrollable mental activity that one discovers going on in ones head. … The answer is not so much about learning to “control” the mental,… as it is about learning to “allow” all that frenzy to be what it is,… and simply bring your attention back to your practice,…over and over, each time you find yourself distracted by the activity that is raging on inside your head. For example,.. if your practice is focusing on the natural flow of the breath, in and out through your nostrils, .. as you breath naturally with your mouth closed,.. then each time you find your attention has been drawn back into the activity going on inside your head,… you simply gently bring your attention back to the flow of your breath through your nostrils. …. Do not attempt to “stop” your mental activity. This will only create a struggle within you between you and your mental,.. and it will not work for you. … The trick is in what you are focusing your attention on,…. not whether or not you are making your mental stop moving. If you are choosing to focus your attention on the natural and uncontrolled flow of the breath through you nostrils,.. then you are focusing your attention on the harmonious and simple foundation of Life. The foundation of what you are. … and whatever you focus your attention on,…. is what gets more energy. ….. So if you focus your attention on your “mental”,… then you are sure to get more mental activity. ….. Yet, if you focus your attention on the breath for example,… then you are going to get more of the simple and in and out flow of the NOW. …. and that will very naturally eventually allow the mental to become more and more still. It can be difficult to learn this in the beginning,… simply because you have spent the whole of your life so far,.. allowing your attention to be dominated by your “mental”. … You just have to gradually re-train your attention,.. and that simply takes practice… The more you practice on a regular basis,.. you will begin to experience short periods where you will be aware that you are experiencing a pleasant state of stillness within yourself. .. These still periods will gradually happen more and more as you continue to practice. The trick is to not allow yourself to become attached to the desire to experience this stillness. Just keep coming back to your practice and allow the experiences of stillness to come and go. Eventually you will become aware that you are mastering being able to remain in the stillness more and more. .. It will happen very naturally and in it’s own time. … Do not attempt to control it.That is how one learns to meditate and achieve a quiet mind. … Once you become more adept at this,… you will become aware that you are not your “mental”,…and that you are simply the Observer of it. .. You will be able to simply observe it’s activity and then eventually you will be able to very naturally allow it to become still. Whatever practice of meditation you adopt to follow however, is simply a tool to help bring you to that place where you will very naturally be able to “allow” the mental to become still….. Regular practice is crucial to learning this.
what to do to keep ur mind from going blank?
Q: My mind goes blank, and i feel kind of unreal. I know its due to my Genaralized anxiety disorder. But any suggestion what i could to to avoid that? without taking nedication??? thanx
A: Going blank… That is a defense mechanism and not a healthy one but it is one… I used to go blank… To stop feeling right in the middle of an arguement with my ex who was emotionally abusive… when the pain got so bad that my body couldn’t handle it I would ‘shut down’ I could hear and see but not comprehend what was going on and I definately couldn’t feel anything at all… You need to seek counseling… Medication may be necessary but that does not mean that it would be considered permanent… It could help while you work with the counselor to find out methods of coping… I am off meds for over 6 months now and out of therapy for 2 months… I started all of this last October… So it wasn’t that long for me to handle life appropriately… Good luck!
how do i keep my mind blank?
Q: every time i started thing about stuff i get this really bad headache sometimes i think am going crazy.
A: I think you’ll find that keeping your mind blank is extremely difficult if not impossible. However, you could teach yourself to focus on just one thing. Pick something innocuous, something not likely to invoke other related memories or thoughts. A brick wall, for example.Having said that… It shouldn’t hurt just to think about stuff in general. Maybe you should consider seeing a doctor. Whether you’re “going crazy” or have a medical condition, you owe it to yourself to find out what’s going on, and if possible, do something to fix it.
