Should my sneezing cat see a vet?
Q: picked up my cat from Battersea y’day, and settled in very well – very confident little boy! We played for ages, ate VERY well, and no fear at all! Last night tho started sneezin – just 1 or 2, but more today. No nasal discharge and still bright eyed and bushy tailed. Eating well, drinking well and all the rest! More tired today but presume settling himself in tiring…..but worried he keeps sneezing.I called Battersea as he had vet checks there day before he left when he got castrated, they said if still eating/drinking/playing and generally bright not to worry unless he worsens….but after only a day of course I am worried! Could he have snorted cat nip? is he allergic to my house?!do I need to get him to a vet – he is otherwise very bright and well in himself but I am worried
A: Since cats are quite close to the floor it could be inhaling dust from the carpets, or even from outside. Or this sometimes happens when cats clean themselfs and the dust particles in their fur makes them sneeze. There are many thing what it could be, it could even be an infection. If it gets any worse I’ll consult your vet.
