When does a person deserve to feel sadness or depression?
Q: a lot of the time when a person says they feel sad or want to kill them selves people turn there backs and say that person is making excuses…if sadness is an excuse-ful emotion then when does a person deserve to feel sadness, or depression?
A: What you are actually asking is “When should a person expect sympathy and special treatment when they tell friends how unhappy they are?” Answer: When you express these sentiments less than once every year or so.If you are frequently discussing your mood disorder, you are asking people to give you medical treatment despite their lack of training. Would you also ask these people to remove your appendix? You need to receive treatment for these problems from a qualified professional. When you’re conversing with other people, ask how everything is going for THEM. Don’t focus conversation only on your needs, wants, or feelings.Talk to a professional about suicidal impulses. Telling friends that you feel like killing yourself can be perceived as a personal threat. You are threatening them with potential grief and guilt if they don’t fix your problems. Again, they are not qualified to treat you. If someone tells me that he might as well kill himself if I don’t comply with his needs, I immediately back out of the relationship and avoid that person. Please enlist the help of professionals as soon as possible. You don’t “deserve” to suffer such deep depression, and it can be treated. I recommend a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy to realign your maladaptive attitudes and behaviors along with anti-depressants. You can feel good again.
Does anyone else feel sadness / depression / anxiety when nipples are touched?
Q: Whenever I touch my nipples, or someone else touches them for that matter, I feel extremely sad and depressed. I keep thinking negative thoughts, I just can’t help it. It’s always been this way, since I was a child. I have a history of depression and anxiety disorders, too. But the feeling always goes away immediately after I stop touching my nipples. Does anyone know what this is about? Thank you.I’ve never breastfed, and this has been going on since I can remember. It’s an overwhelming feeling of sadness, like the world was coming to an end. I feel empty and I almost wish to die. It starts immediately after I touch them and it goes on until I let go of them. I know it’s weird! It’s also very frustrating.
A: I kinda know what you mean… I like having my nipples touched during sex, but can’t stand having them touched when I’m not aroused… it makes me feel really uncomfortable, almost physically sick feeling. Its a really negative, horrible feeling but like you said, it stops when they stop being touched. This is really wierd, I am intrigued now that other people experience the same thing. It doesn’t bother me all that much, and it only happens some times, not all of the time. I just avoid touching them if that feeling starts… sorry I can’t explain why this happens, but its a really interesting and bizarre phenomenon.
How do you feel when people confuse bad mood and sadness with clinical depression?
Q: Every now and then you hear, I’m depressed, I am down, I’ve been so depressed lately…etc. If you have clinical depression you will know what I mean.Thank you for answering my question. I didn’t mean to be judgemental in any way. Ivana, if I could answer my own question I would do it with your words, I also had the same conditions and I wouldn’t wish to go through this to my worst enemy. I wish a happy and healthy new year to you all.
A: I think the first person who answered your question completely misinterpreted what you wrote :)How do I feel? Well, I am currently recovering from four and a half years of severe post-natal depression, bordering on psychosis, with an underlying acute anxiety disorder with a tendency to apocolyptic panic attacks. Ta da!I used to think: I dare anyone to tell me I’m faking it, using it as an excuse, making it up. I used to hope like hell someone would tell me to “Get over it”, or “For God’s sake, smile!”, so I could smack them in the head.I used to get very angry, very defensive, very suicidal, very everything you can think of.Now, though (and this has only happened in the past couple of weeks) I have accepted that the only people who understand are the ones who’ve been there, and it’s pretty much pointless trying to explain it to anyone else. They just can’t understand, whether they want to or not.I am so close to being better now that I’m getting really excited, and once I’ve got myself completely back on track, I’ll be focusing all of my spare time and energy on helping others get the help they need to get better.
