With golden splendor the leaves tumble and fall
And my daughter points in wonder and awe
Through her eyes,
I watch the change again for the first time
And her first year past comes to mind
These fallen leaves have stood watch as she grew
And now they must bid adieu
We look over the pumpkin patch
Amidst the sleet and snow outside
My little girl is filled with glee
And her eyes open wide as she smacks its hide
The pumpkin we’ll take home with pride
Red and amber, the colors on the ground
Dazzle her as we walk on by
With the season change,
She’s now a year older
And to myself, I quietly let out a sigh
