Saving Money During Desperate Times

Living on a budget can be difficult. Living on a tight budget is even harder. It is not easy but it is possible if you really need some extra money here and there to help pay bills. Here are some ways to save money when you are in desperate need of saving money.

Number one on the list is getting rid of television. You do not need to waste countless hours in front of the television. Spend more time with your family or friends or take care of the things that need to be done. If you must watch your favorite t.v. show, then watch it online. There are several websites like hulu that allow you to watch your favorite t.v. shows online for free.

The second thing you can get rid of is the house phone. Most of us these days have a cell phone. Use it to make your phone calls at home too. If you do not have a home phone, then try to go to a lower rate plan on your cell phone or get rid of your text messaging. Also if you are desperate, then get rid of your data phone. Most phone companies require you to pay for a data plan but there are plenty of good phones that do not require this. You just need to decide how desperate you need or want to get.

Saving money on food and groceries is the hard one for a lot of people. Try not to eat out as much or do not eat out at all. You can spend a lot of money eating out every month. Also, quit drinking soft drinks or energy drinks and you will see quite a bit of savings on your grocery budget. One of the easiest ways to save is to make a meal plan every week for every meal and stick to it. Make a grocery list full of simple meal ingredients and go buy them. Do not buy anything that is not on your list such as cookies, ice cream, etc…

There are also ways to save on your electricity. Try turning up your air conditioner when you are gone in the summer time and turn your heater down in the winter. Also make sure you turn lights off when you leave a room and unplug things when you are done using them.

You can save water by letting your dishwasher do the washing. Do not rinse every dish before putting it in the dishwasher. Also, do you really need to take that twenty minute shower? Another way to save on water is to not purchase bottled water. Buy a Brita pitcher and that will save you money if you do not want to drink from the faucet.

If you follow the above advice, you should start to see more of a savings. You just have to be strict and do what is necessary if want to save money. Good luck!
